Game: Irregular Verbs
There are some things in English that can only really be learnt through practice. Irregular verbs are tricky and inconsistent ’ of course that’s why they’re called ’irregular’. Practise conjugating irregular verbs by spinning the irregular verb wheel. Some are easy and some difficult, but how fast can you conjugate correctly?
GAME: STAR WORDS
90% of the time, native English speakers use just 7,500 words in speech and writing. In our dictionaries, these words appear in red and are graded with stars. One-star words are frequent, two-star words are more frequent, and three-star words are the most frequent. But can you guess how many stars each red word is worth? Test your intuition on word frequency with this red words game.

New Evidence Unearthed for the Origins of the Maya
Civilizations rise and fall, often in dramatic fashion. Their origins, though, are subtler and tend to be overlooked or poorly understood
The classic period of the lowland Maya in Mesoamerica (A.D. 300 to 950) is a popular topic in archaeology, but little is known about the early preclassic era (before 1000 B.C.). Scientists are typically split between two theories on the subject: Either the Maya developed directly from an older"mother culture" known as the Olmec, or they sprang into existence independently. In the case of the Maya, a new paper in Sciencemagazine sheds surprising light on that murky early period.

25 Heroic Dogs and How They Saved People
People have always seemed to have a soft spot for heroic dogs. Whether it's TV classics like Lassie or heart-warming family films like Homeward Bound, the idea of dogs rescuing their human masters (or even complete strangers) captures our love and affection as few other things do. So it's only natural to love hearing about dogs who save people in real life! Here are 25 true accounts of dogs who saved people from perilous circumstances.
1) Brutis
Brutis was a 7 year old golden retriever when he became a hero in 2004. That's when the loveable pooch snatched up a coral snake as it was slithering dangerously close to a young child, suffering a near-deadly bite from the snake in the process. His heroics did not go unnoticed however, as Brutis was promptly flown to Los Angeles to recieve the National Hero Dog award.
Said the committee who awarded the medal, "when we give an award like this, we're looking for something extra, something that would make people wonder why a dog would do what he did."
2) Zoey
Everyone knows that smaller dogs have to display in attitude what they lack in size, and Zoey is living proof. A five poundchihuahua from Colorado, Zoey made headlines in 2007 for rescuing a one year old child from an approaching three foot rattlesnake when the snake got too close for comfort. While Zoey sustained a small wound from a snakebite above her eye, she eventually recovered and the snake was killed by the dog's owner.

Akropoli
The name of a sight I want to go is the Akropolis in Athens. Because it talks about mythology and I like it. It is 156m. tall. It is nice because it has a lot of temples. The Parthenon, the statue of Athens e.t.c. It's a beautiful sight. There are a lot of tourists and Greek people from Kalamata, Patra, Messologi e.t.c.
I know that the first temple was built in (1100-750 B.C.) and the first sight is Propylaia , the temple of Athens Nike, the statue of Athens, which is 7 m tall e.t.c. It's fantastic. The statue and temple are also amazing. In the Akropolis sight there are a lot of trees.
I like it because it talks about mythology. The students and families can go there.

Advice Letter to a Lonely Student
Dear Chris,
I'm so sorry you feel lonely at your new school. I think your problem is frequent and there's no need to , worry. When I went to a new school I had the same problem, but I got over it!
You must talk with your classmates and make friendships. Sure some boys match with you. When someone else wants to talk to you for any reason listen to him.
Why don't you throw a party? If you invite your schoolmates to a party, you will get to know them better. I bet you'll make lots of friends then.
Good luck . Don't worry. I'm sure you will make friends.
Write again to tell me what happened.
All the best,
Nestor V.

My Crazy Easter Holiday !!!
Hello Dawn, how are you ? I'm writing to you to tell you about my Easter holiday. I went to my grandmothers house. I went to the farm and I said "That's it I'm done with the countryside!!!!!!!
Bees, flies and mosquitoes were flying everywhere and worms, ants and beetles were all around the deep grass.
Her farm is up on a mountain called Lalioti. Its in Korinthos.
While I was there I was sitting on the roof of our car, because there was a pig. The pig was looking at me all the time with a mean look. Seriously. My cousins had big sticks and they were chasing the pigs. The opposite thing was happening to me. Only that the pigs didn't have sticks but they still were trying to get me when I was ON the car. I'm not going there never again!
How was your Easter holiday? Write back soon.
Chris

Ways to keep fit
Can you think of a child who never exercises or never plays with his friends? It is in the nature of the child to move and play all the time with their friends .
The benefits of a healthy diet which is very rich in Vitamins and minerals and low in fat are widely known . However , we must all eat healthy foods and exercise a lot because if we do not exercise we will rut on weight all the time .
I prefer to eat very healthy foods such as a salad, vegetables, apples and in general fruit . It is very difficult to start a diet but later it is easy if you eating healthy foods .
Eating is a very important part of our lives . However, we all need to develop a healthy relationship with food and resist the temptation to eat for comfort .

The Lost City Of Atlantis
The Lost City Of Atlantis is the mythical island. Atlantis which sank into the ocean . People believe that Atlantis was between North America and Africa. It was said to exist some 11.000 years ago. The original story of Atlantis is Long and diverse but it is said the Poseidon, God Of The Sea, created the island for his love, a mortal woman named Cleito.
Unfortunately , mysteriously Atlantis disappeared, perhaps because of a natural disaster such as an earthquake or the eruption of a volcano .
It might find an answer to this mystery.

The movie is about a Clown Ghost who eats kids. This clown lives in a sewage and whenever he is hungry he gets out, goes to peoples' houses to find a kid to eat. The clown kidnaps a small kid. Luckily the kid's brother notices that his little brother is missing. Every kid is scared of the clown. All the children gather and decide to form a team to go down into the sewage and face the Clown Ghost. Suddenly smoke comes out and the Clown Ghost appears. Then they knew that the small kid wasn't alive anymore...
The clown was destroyed by the kids and he finally disappeared.

Funny Summer Weather
One day last summer it was so sunny and we decided to go to the sea to swim.
It was lovely. We played volleyball and beach tennis. We had real fun.
Then, suddenly it started to rain. We didn't have jackets and we were cold. So, we ran back home and as we were tired we had a bath and we went straight to our beds.
That day was fantastic!

A SAFARI IN AFRICA
Hi Scott,
Thanks for your e-mail . I'm writing about my holidays in Africa. I have been here for ten days with my family! I've taken part in lots of unusual activities. Let me tell you about the most important activities.
The first one was the safari. We went in four groups by jeep and a safari guide in Shavana. I saw wild animals, giraffes, zebras, elephants and tigers. That was a great experience for me.
Another activity that I've enjoyed really is the race with camels. We went with my group in a traditional village. We had tropical foods and drinks and took part in the race with camels. I took the first prize!
The highlight of the day was the traditional music night. We danced and sang with all the villagers.
It's been so far a wonderful holiday. Shall I send you some photos of all my activities?
See you soon
Love,
Dimitris A TRIP TO THE TAYGETOS MOUNTAIN
Last Sunday, I went to the Taygetos Mountain. The road was good at the beginning, later we took a 4x4 car because the road was sandy. My cousin has got a small house there. When we arrived we played and in the evening we all went to bed exhausted. The next day we got up really late, had a good breakfast and returned home. I liked this experience and I think I will do it again!!!

Angelina ia already at college and studying to be a vet. Her first studies are mainly Biology but she will continue with many more studies like physics, chemistry and lots of medical too.

My best friends job !!!
My best friends name is Louis. He wants to be a pediatrician like me. He has many skills. He has a steady hand and he can remember many things.
We both read medical books and study hard for Biology. We also watch Doctor House at the STAR Channel. We try as hard as we can to learn much about medical practice because our dream is to open our own medical center.
I think that we will succeed because we love kids so much and we also love medicine too.

Environment
Dear Madam,
In the newspaper article it says how each person can help the environment. I disagree!
You haven't written enough advice and everything you wrote is wrong! How can you save the environment by not watering the plants? That's crazy! If you water the plants, they will make oxygen. That way we save the environment.
Other things that also help are: always close the tabs so you don't waste water and always turn off every light in your house so you don't waste electricity. Try to ride your bike more, cars need petrol and it releases filthy gases that poison the air, water and flowers. With the bike you are going to lose some weight and fat too. It's very healthy. See, it's very good both for you and the environment.
I believe we will save the environment if we keep it like this.
Yours faithfully, Chris Paleologos
